[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken in my backyard during a light Spring rain. I was drawn to capturing this photo for a couple of reasons. I liked the way that the buds on the Silver Maple tree contained the same colors as the cardinal... but more than that... I liked the way the cardinal looked so content in the rain. His beauty, the brillance of his color, was unaffected by the dismal conditions of the day and the red buds on the tree was a bright forcast of the summer birth and glory to come. A very peaceful scene of contentment and promise for the future.

Just as a side note (and perhaps why this photo has a special meaning for me)... this was the very first photo I used in my first SonRays back on May 21st, 2006.

Hy Larry
Indeed, you made a nice combination between the cardinal bird and the tree buds. And probably, he is waiting for the sun!
Regards, Oana

You certainly have the ye Larry. This is a wonderful image...absolutely gorgeous and with the small bird large world theme I have added it to. I started the theme with this kind of image in mind and you have outdone me! Very good!

Hi Larry,

I have never seen such a beautiful shot of a Cardinal in the distance. He stands out wonderfully with excellent colors and details. My eye was drawn immediately to the matching buds on the tree. An unusual and wonderful post.

Hi Larry!

Your picture is the proof that we don't necessarly need sunshine to take good pictures. The smooth and indirect light creates a delightful atmosphere and shows very natural colours. I like the subject and the unity of the colour tones very much.

Kind regards

Ciao Larry, lovely spring composition with beautiful bird, wonderful colors, very well done, ciao Silvio
PS you are right my last butterfly is overexposed and oversharpned, I change my computer and I need some time for regolation

Hi Larry, what a lovely photo this is. The red cardinal sitting on the tree, and the newly opening buds are the same colour - it is a beautiful scene.
Wonderful to see.
Thank you

A lovely capture of the reds of spring, the male Cardinal and the red buds, the atmosphere is delightful and the composition with the sloping branches great, to make this a fine image that I'm sorry I missed.
Thanks for sharing it, Larry,
Have a good weekend,
