Hump Back Whale:

A friend of mine called me asking if I wanted to get out on the water and look for whales. My wife and I were pretty lazy that day but decided we needed to get out of the house. We decided to go. I was so happy we did. We found a couple pods that day. Sometimes if your lucky one will breach. If your very lucky the whale may breach a 2nd time. This whale ended up breaching about 7 times and the first time our jaws were just dropped and fascinated. The 2nd time we are grabbing our camera's and shooting away. We all got a shots of the Whale breaching. After about 45 minutes of waiting we decided to move on. My friend put the boat forward and we are going about 25mph and the whale popped up right in front of the boat about 20 feet. He slams the boat in reverse causing everyone to jolt forward and his wife was on the front of the boat and almost falls off the boat. While she is leaning over the bow holding on so to not fall off she is looking straight down at the whale. It was an amazing day that I will never forget.

Adam,

Hi Adam, this image is totally awesome!
I can't believe your luck, seeing whales so close up.
But it took your incredible skills and quick reflexes to capture this breaching behemoth with such sharp details and in such a wonderful pose. This is the kind of picture we all dream of taking.

Very nice image.

Hi Adam,
Long time no see. The first time I saw this photo I did not have enough time to critique it, so I made a note for myself to return to it. The photo is a stunner. The high arched jump is awesome. I love the perfect details on the whale and the wonderfully hazed and blurred BG. It really seperated the whale from the land. The brown shells on the chin of the whale break the blue grey tone wonderfully.
TFS,
Niek

P.S. You are lucky to have such a great friend.

Hi Adam

I'm glad to see that you've been doing a number of postings again recently.
Sounds like you guys really had an exciting and well rewarded day on the boat.
You have captured an amazing animal which few of us ever have the opportunity to do.
Excellent sharpness and spot-on exposure definitively gave the shot a visual plus.
I really like this one, great stuff.
Btw, I normally do not fancy a thick frame around a photo, but this one sure worked well.

Very well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot
