[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Preening while waiting for the tide to change. As beautiful as these birds are they are often infested with lice and spend a lot of time cleaning their plumage. Lake Maria Sanchez, St. Augustine, Florida, is actually a tidal creek that has been dammed. It is shallow and provides good hunting for wading birds. When the tide begins flowing in through the spillway the birds begin to hunt.

hi Robert

Very nice capture of the heron at rest and shooting in dim light condition yet showing a good exposure on the body.

Perhaps I would crop the top and try to include the legs inside the frame. But I suppose you may not have the time to spare before the pose is gone.

tfs, bill
