[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Kettle river was the largest River in my wilderness....this river starts in the mountains of British Columbia then flows SW to the Midway Border Crossing, guarded by the US Border Patrol (aka Homeland security). In places they use horses and 4x4 all terrain vehicles to guard this border. As far as I know, this particular stretch of the border has never seen a terrorist, but plenty of folks smuggling drugs..pretty hardy folks as well, doing it sometimes over rugged mountain terrain in deep snows at 20 degrees below zero and after dark...but they usually get caught. Of course the ones who do not get caught might be greater, but since they aren't caught...no numbers...

This Kettle makes a loop through Ferry county and into the town of Curlew, considered a Ghost town by some but still has a populating and a couple of business...then it wander back into Canada and down at another border crossing called Laurier...then it winds south and eventually meets the Columbia river at Kettle Falls on Reservation land.

This image was taken during the spring meltdown. the river was overflowing its banks. I am 5 miles North of Curlew and 5 Miles S of the Danville Border Crossing. A snag which stood in this image didn't make it through the deluge. It eventually was taken down by the rushing water and became part of the landscape of Canada! the Kettle river is 175 miles long.

Nice presentation of this river. I also like when background on an image is included in the notes. It does not make a picture any better or worse than it already is, but for me it adds considerable interest and understanding to the setting and context of the image.

Hi Bob. I remember from a picture you posted last year what a snag is. I am not to old to still learn . A fine compotion of the river Taken from a good POV looking down the river. Good natural colours. TFS.

Nicely exposed shot of this swollen river Bob.
I'm assuming it is higher than usual due to the 'flooded' colour.

Hi Bob,

The tree in the foreground is dividing the photo in two, brownish water on the right and clear water on the seems to be acting like a filter. It is an asset to the composition. The forest is a natural frame to the river. The light is enhancing the colors of the scenery. Have a nice day.
