Now we depart the beach and the elephant seals at Aņo Nuevo. Tromping back through the meadow and then driving back to San Francisco offers an interesting and profound contrast in geography and plant life along the California coast.
First is the meadow cover shown in this post, a couple of hundred meters from the seals. I have no idea of classification, and since botany is not my strength in biology, I'll leave that to others. My interest here was mostly aesthetic. The way the reddish grass seed heads intermingled with the green blades of grass and tiny yellow flowers was so pleasing to the eye. All this is in a dense mat that would provide excellent cover for field mice, but not for any bigger animals.
Enjoy looking down, for tomorrow will be quite different.
tech notes- moderate cropping, some shadow/highlight adjustment and contrast boost, one step sharpening, no color manipulation |

Bob, wonderful color, but a bit overall confusing because there is no main theme to this photograph. If there was a centralized creature, or something to bring the eye to a central point, I think this would have been a more interesting interpretation of the photo.
