I love seeing wildlife along ridgelines and I was lucky a couple of times on our spring trip. We got up at 4:30am most mornings to catch the sunrise. I had about 30 seconds for this shot. I was photographing a pond much closer in when a whole line of elk stately marched along the ridge high above. In an instant the light, the color, and the elk were gone.

Hi Evelynn long time no see. What a prize photo to view. It is absolutely elegant. The blue to purple pink gradient makes for a gorgeous backdrop for the elk silhouette. Definitely worth getting up at the we hours in the morning. Paul :)

Hello Evelynn,
How nice to see a post from you again!! I hope you'll keep on posting! I never seem to be up early enough to catch the morning sunrise. You did well here and caught these two elk walking up the ridge. A beautiful silhouette against a lovely colour of the sky and a fine composition.
TFS and all the best wishes, Ulla

Hola Evelynn.
What a nice surprice for Me when I find one of Your photos here again. I am glad You come back, just like the good old times.
The silhouettes looks beautiful with such colours in BG.
TFS My friend.

The return of the lady. I am so happy to see you back in action again. It's pretty boring to out here all alone without your friend around.
I love the silhoutee of both Elk against this wonderful warm colored sky. The simplicity of the composition is very strong and alows for a full focus on the Elk. I think a bit more sharpness isn't bad. And, you got a few strange blue spots on the right.

Hello Evelynn,
So happy you dropped in and left us the beauty to behold. Your eye is amazing, you see images where most don't. I remember a fence line on a hill in Waterton, ahhh Evelynn. Hope to see you in September, our plans are still in the air, will let you know ASAP. Thanks for this beauty , stay well.

very nice dramtic shot of these elk, good focus and composition

Hi Evelynn,

good pov and i like the colours of the early morning sky.

Hi Evelynn,
long time or so it seems since you have lasted posted but it sure has been worth the wait. This photo shows artistic expression that many might not think to try as they would rather show their subjects in full on Technicolour glory with a myriad of details, etc.I like this composition for it's subtle colour pallet and quiet feeling it evokes and the air of mystery it has.Nice to see a new image of yours and thank you Evelynn for giving us this for the viewing. Bob

Hell Evelynn,

Hi again and nice to see a new and great photo from you!
As Paul already said, you've also got a splendid BG for the elks, not just beautiful silhouettes.
A very nice, yet simple composition, too - with them looking and going up, giving a bit of an optimistic feel to the photo.
If you also say that you were panning for this shot, i think it's a great result in terms of sharpness and clarity, considering the dim light and the tough exposure.
Very beautiful work, as always!

Bravo and TFS

i didn't know you were back! It's truly a great pleasure to see you posting again. Your wildlife shots are still as great as ever. This is very well seen sand well executed. Sharp outlines on these Elk against a wonderfully coloured sky, with great framing.
Very nice to see you back, i hope there's now going to be more landscapes here on TN, i will return more regularly if there is.

I love those two silhouettes. They are so interesting with all those convolutions. Great postures.
The simplicity of the composition has very powerful impact.
The wispy clouds and the purples in the sky make for a fantastic and perfect BG for the stark silhouettes.
So happy to see you back. : )
