I have no idea by what such luck I came today....for a rare change my legs have been feeling better so Jane and I took a short drive. I was able to get out and about just enough to capture this one..It was as it he had been waiting for me...perhaps it is a good sign. I am well on my way in savings for a new electric mobility device..thanks to quite a few...I suspect sometime by the mid of October...if all goes well.

Now I am no expert in this...but I did some initial looking and came up with Neurocordula virginiensis male (Cinnamon Shadowdragon)...From the pictures I have seen, this comes closest but I am open to alternatives...

Hand Held about 1 inch away (he really was waiting)

Hi Bob
Wow, super sharp detail on your brown dragonfly. He's a real beauty. Nice you captured him on a neutral coloured piece of wood. The lighting is just right as well as the composition.

Super image Bob,
The detail is superb and the colors are gorgeous. Love the delicate wing patterns that you managed to capture so well.
I did some checking and from what I found on the web it seems the Cinnamon Shadowdragon is found more in the South Eastern portions of the US. I have to admit you picture sure looks like a Cinnamon Shawdowdragon, so maybe someone more knowledgeable can find out for sure.
My guide book does show a picture of a female White-faced Meadowhawk that sure looks a lot like yours, and it is located in your area. TFS.

Hi Bob, welcome back MF!

A masterpiece work indeed tought you stated that you are not expert. Technically and aestheticaly very beautiful macro. i especially liked the lighting and your POV Bob. Very effective!
TFS and have a nice day!

Hello Bob,
At first thanks a lot for your reaction towards my butterfly-picture. I'm very pleased :-)!!
This fine dragonfly was waiting for you at a very special place where the fine light crossing its wings made wonderful shadows on the wooden fence. Makes the picture look very artistical. I cannot help with ID, for me it looks like some kind of Sympetrum species here.
I hope you will have your electric mobility device soon!
Take care
Kind regards

Hi Bob,

nice capture of the dragonfly still I think the wooden surface with the shadows make the image.. the shadow of the wing makes it look even longer. And those really natural colors spice it up too. TFS!

Best regards,

Hi Bob,

Welcome back, the subject is well framed. The close-up view is showing with precision the details and colors of the dragonfly. The intensity of the light has a good effect on the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.

Hi Bob,

Three is a good number. Amazing details and closeness you get to the subject for the shot. Perfect focus silencing the bg pretty well.

TFS and best regards,

Excellent focus and sharpness, nice colours, natural light and well blurred BG.
Best regards,

Hello Bob,
You've got to have luck some time and this is a great capture of this dragonfly similar to one we have here but not the same! I like your POV and the light and colours are beautiful. Excellent focus too and sharp details. I also like the composition. Well done!
Many thanks and best wishes, Ulla

A dragonfly expert would be pleased with this one if it were his 10,000th Bob.

The features are well shown with fine sharpness and lighting and it's great that your legs gave you permission to to use them!
I guess Ron is right about the ID.
Thanks and all the best,

Hi Bob,the position of the light is very good to create beautifuls shadows on the ground....excellent sharpenss too....my best compliments for your dragonfly! Have a nice day,Luciano

Hi Robert..
Wonderful sharp details, great composition.. excellent POV..

Nice detail and I love the horizontal view, here. Notice how well this critter blends into his environment - think of how many pesky insects fly down beside him, probably unaware of his presence - now my question is, where was he the day the yellow jacket nailed me in the neck? Doing great things with that little camera, Bob.
Kathy :-)
