This is a shot of the mountains surrounding Bartlett Lake which is located in the Tonto National Forest of Arizona. Bartlett lake is located about 17 miles NE. of the town of Carefree.
Rosie and I spent the day swimming and enjoying the outdoors in this beautiful area while visiting my daughter who lives in Phoenix. It was very hot this particular day (113 degrees F)so the water felt great and we had a fantastic time.
One of the local guys told me this spot was called mustard hill, because of the color of the boulders in the foreground. I wasn't able to get close enough to the terrain to see if the yellowish color was the result of some type of lichen or other plant cover.

Very nice landscape Ron. What I like most in this scene is how the blue cloudy sky makes the cactus stand out on the left side. looks like it would be a fun place for photography. Nice job!!

This is kind of a departure for you—there are no macro close-ups of awesome animals. I love it, though. I think it is amazing that plant-life can exist in such rocky terrain. Lovely cacti mixed in to boot!

TFS,
MP

Hello Ron,

Hi Ron!

Indeed, the name "Mustard Hill" suits these rocks very well. Your picture gives the spectator a fine impression of that place. I also like the huge cactus that are typical for this region, I guess.

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Ron,
It is a very beautiful and typical Arizona landscape feature it's arid surrounding and those beautiful gigantic catus. They may looks small here, but I have seen them close up and they can be a very tall. It'g a good POV include the water feature, I wish you could have include more of the water than this. It would make a more balanced composition.

Hi Ron,
Nice scenery in Arizona. Superb details and colors. For Rosie (wife) and for you, normally I have some pictures of waterfalls in Croastia. I hope you will like.
Have a pleasant day,

Hallo Ron
Time is currently chasing me but, in short I want to say:………..
This is a great scene shared with us of a typical Arizona landscape, and what a wonderful selection of elements of nature you have here all in one photo! I think walking between those rocks one could easily discover some wonderful reptiles to photograph. You have captured this scenery so well. Thanks for sharing. Kind regards from a very humid Empangeni.

Hi Ron, this is a magnificent composition with the water in the foreground, the colorful rocks, the gorgeous sky and those large spiky cactus. Thanks for a reminder of the amazing Arizona landscape and you certainly portrayed it beautifully. Congratulations on your trip to Phoenix, glad you were able to visit with you daughter. Imagine the temp being over a hundred degrees when it has been hovering around 30 degrees here. You'll probably be experiencing the same snowstorm we're expecting here tomorrow. Thanks for your nice comments on my photos and happy holidays to you and your family.
Eileen

The cactus on the left catches my eye... zooming in a bit and focusing only on the mustard colored rock, cactus, and sky - did you try that angle? If so, please post! This is a great shot - TFS. - Kelly

Hi Ron,
Except for the cacti (and the warm - especially in case of water temperature, as higher one than 64 degrees F = 18 Celsius was never recorded at the Southern Irish coastline) the landscape's quite similar to the Irish. Nice shot, possibly cropping less tight at the bottom would add more balance to the composition, but an effective photo, anyway.
Kind regards from Ireland, László
