In the winter months I tend not to get up early. but today is Sunday and Mass is at 7.....so...just after Mass had ended I looked out to where the sun usually doesn't rise...far south in the winter. It is the only time of year I can capture a sunrise from my back door!!! Sometimes awakening early had its rewards. In this image it had just stopped raining!

Ciao Bob, fascinating sunrise with wonderful silhouete of forest, fantastic sky, splendid warm colors, very well done, ciao Silvio

hello Bob

awakening early the morning it is always rewarding,
a very beautiful atmosphere photo of the winter sunrise
with the darkness of the clouds and tree silhouettes
and the warm luminosity coming from the sun, TFS

Hy Bob,
I think that always awakening early had its rewards. And this picture speaks perfectlly. I like the two dark layers and in the middle the sun in the struggle for rising higer up in the sky, now, in the middle of the winter.
My kind regards,

Hi Bob,

Outstanding sunrise capture! The colours are incredible in this scene. The 1/1000-second exposure looks like it did a great job, awesome cloud coverage too.
TFS and have a nice night!

Hi Bob. They say it can be the best time to take pictures just after rain. You have a nice view from your back door. As you say getting up early has its advantages some times. I still have to leave the house at 6.40 am for work .I like the out line of the different trees against the sunrise. Well taken TFS.

Hi Mr. Robert,
Even knowing the freeze temperatures over there, this view is absolutely rewarding and worth for all the efforts.
It's so good the yellow part with the trees' silhouettes.
I like also the composition with the two black strips both up and down, it's like the rising sun crusade defeating the darkness of night.
Good to catch you again around here again, thanks for share and warm regards,

Hi Bob,

Wow - I would love to see this from your back door. This sunrise is absolutely stunning with wonderful colors and a fantastic composition. Funny, I seem to wake up earlier in the winter!

Hello Bob,
Love this unusual sunrise which is quite different then most you see posted. Instead of the bright oranges, yellows and reds yours is unique in that it is mostly made up of dark shadowy cloud formations above and silhouetted pines below.
Nicely composed with wonderful sharpness and an exposure which captures the true moment you experienced.
Well done!!

Hello Bob,
What a sight you have from your backdoor! Technically perfect picture and superb evening atmosphere rendered. Really well done Bob. What a fine light you caught over these tree-silhouettes. Thanks so much.
Take care

Hello Bob,
Great silhoutte at the horizon with wonderful clouds & sky light color tones during sunrise. No doubt, awakening early had its rewards. TFS

Beautiful Bob. Getting up early always has its rewards and this beautiful sunrise is just one of them... :)

If somebody asks me 'How to take Landscape pictures' I tell them to visit your site.Though I am in frame after a long gap but whenever I try to make me happy I watch your pics. And like many this shot is possible only from yours. Because your vision is God gifted.

Hi Bob

Félicitation p cette très belle scène de ce magnifique levé de soleil.Les couleurs du ciel sont ravissantes,la composition est très belle
Bravo pour cette arbre a l'avant plan il cadre bien l'ensemble de la photo
Merci et au revoir...JP

I always love the sunrise, I think even grays colors can have great beauty in nature, some believe it it a boring color, which I would only agree if it was the only color by itself, but variety of colors is always important. Thanks for sharing, how have you been Bob? It's been a while since I last posted until tonight.
