This is a Kenya Imapla I saw on my trip to the Wild Animal Park. He was keeping a close eye on us trying to decide if it would be safer to stand still or to run.

I couldn't decide if the background and/or foreground added or distracted from the photo. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated to help me grow :-)

Kenya Impala (Aepyceros melampus rendilis)
The impala is a species of antelope. While there are several subspecies of impala throughout Africa, this subspecies is confined to Kenya and Uganda. The champion jumper of all the antelopes, an impala can leap 8 to 10 feet vertically while covering 30-35 feet in a single bound.
They are fast runners and can reach speeds of 35-40 mph.

The impala is highly greparious with one buck presiding over a harem of 15 or more females. Male impalas have a strange way of attracting females or warning off other males: they repeatedly stick their tongues out! It’s a display known as “tongue flashing.

Superbe prise de vue et bonne exposition. Domage par contre, que le sujet ne soit pas bien focusé.

Merci pour l'envoie.

Hey Cathy,

Another nice shot from you. I'd love to see a portrait of just his head and shoulders with the background water --- I think that that may give the picture more effect. Keep at it --- you're one the right track

Very nice picture, Cathy.
Maybe little soft but nice colours and good POV.
Well done.

A late welcome to TN.

Great portrait!
Sharp image, good depth of field, nice colour.

Hey, Cathy. That is a fantastic shot of the impala. Clean and sharp and well exposed. The thumbnail jumped out at me on the gallery page. I do think the background on top takes away a bit from the portrait, and I agree with Zakiwi that a head portrait would be stunning. Well done and TFS. : )

Nice shot Cathy,
Good detail and good POV. Nicely exposed and superb colours. Good composition. The focus is just a touch soft, a bit of USM would fix that.
Well captured, thanks for posting.

Beautiful capture, well done! The horizon seems a bit skewed, maybe it needs a bit of tilt. Colors and focus are awesome, TFS!

Nice shot Cathy, I like your composition, excellent colours, contrast and DOF. The focus is a bit soft on the animal, but overall is good. :) Well captured, thanks for sharing

Lovely shot Cathy, warm lighting and composition is relaly nice. You captured antelope in introspective mood.It looks in deep thoughts.Very well taken shot in all aspects.

The background area is what attracted me to this photo. It makes for a very unusual photo.
I expect a head shot with just a small area of the background would be great also, but I like this one because it is different.
It's a little too soft, though so I'll have to give it only one point.
