Red American Maple Foreground
American Maple Behind
Ponderosa Pine in rear

The Ponderosa is over 90 years old and stands 125 feet tall. It is home to squirrels and sparrows. This one is a landmark in our area. We'll give directions "...by the tall tree"

The Maples are about 40 years old....

Where do the original colours come from?

Chlorophyll, which gives leaves their basic green color. It is necessary for photosynthesis, the chemical reaction that enables plants to use sunlight to manufacture sugars for their food. Trees in the temperate zones store these sugars for their winter dormant period.

Carotenoids, which produce yellow, orange, and brown colors in such things as corn, carrots, and daffodils, as well as rutabagas, buttercups, and bananas.

Anthocyanins, which give color to such familiar things as cranberries, red apples, concord grapes, blueberries, cherries, strawberries, and plums. They are water soluble and appear in the watery liquid of leaf cells.

Hi Bob,

Very suitable photo for this time of the year. The blood red leaves tie into the festive spirit nicely. I like the selective focus, especially on red ones. Looks like you have captured the intense colour nicely, fantastic details too. Great inclusion of yellow and green ones in a fine perspective, the POV really makes me feel like I'm there. Thanks a lot for this impressive scene my friend!
Have a nice new healthy and happy new week!

Hello Bob,
A beautiful fall presentation filled with color and textures. A wonderful reminder of the gorgeous sights that arrive each year in certain parts of the country,
The peak colors were this past week here in Massillon. I was up in your old neighborhood Saturday, and there were some spectacular sights around the Rocky River area. TFS.

Namastay Bob,
A good capture of these beautiful and colorful leaves. Only defect is the small picture. Very well composed. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hello Bob,
Happy to see that you are back! You show us a colorful seson-picture.
I see that in your part of the world fall is also a feast of colors. We have it now too, but rainy weather is making it less cheerful. Nice to have chosen a point of view which allows us to see a great variety of coloration.
Kindest regards
