Ambystoma mexicanum

One of the most incredible animals on this planet, it's all about it's physiology and the ability to regenerate not just it's tail like a lizard but any part of it's body, from tail. limb, jaw or even an eye. Ubfortunately this animal is close to being extirpated from the wild, it is indigenous to Mexico and because of human encroachment this beautiful creature is on the brink of extinction.

Hallo Paul
You captured one of these too! and yours is beautiful. I very much like the view from the front. It is a beautiful picture of this Axolotl, very good quality and great light showing all the details beautifully, especially the blue around the eyes and the shape of the paws. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Hello Paul,
Looks like a baby, your Axolotl! Funny picture, well presented as usual.
have a nice weekend
Kind regards

Another impressive photo Paul! As usually the composition the colours and the sharpness are excellent.

I have seen this incredible monster just a week or two ago in a post presented by Anna (miss piggy) who is also commenting here. Great point of view Paul and ..... good day! Superb clarity as usually, fantastic depth and powerful colors! Unusual and very appealing facial expression! Bravo! Stunning addition to your colorful collection and certainly to the library of TN!

Miss Piggy also uploaded a picture of this fascinating little animal and that was the first time I had become aware of its existence. What bad testimony to mankind that such a fabul;ous animal is becoming extinct. It must be saved to continue in the wold. Beautiful photo and very important note.

Hi Paul
now I know the trick of professional photographers like you who just get images 10 times better than the average: it's a heavy make up of your models, here mainly around the eyes. Gotcha!

Hi paul,

Nice pic of this beautiful specie.
1st i've seen this specie in anna's album.
Good POV & good note as well. Well done & TFS.

Bonjour Paul,

An "uncommun" creature I never had the chance to see before. I must be leaving on another planet than you are. Just kidding. Good soft light, DOF was very well managed so all its head and torso are nice and sharp. FG is darker than I would like, but the pose and the BG as well as the FG give the image an alien style look, that I like. Good presentation and TFS all those strange creature with us.

greeting lou

Hello Paul,
What a creature!

Hi Paul,
a very unusual and intense encounter with a fascinating creature you are offering here, allowing us to get into face-to-face contact with Axolotl, a famous name heard and read about many times before, but just with a few drab black and wind illustrations of it in my mind. It was just a few weeks ago that Anna (Miss Piggy) from South Africa contributed a colorful portrait here, the first one I've seen so far. Your image now is even going a step further with very close apprach, a really funny frontal point of view, excellent sharpness and superbly well controlled colors. Love those surprisingly blue eyes! As a matter of interest for whenever I come to Washington DC again: which zoo or aquarium did you visit to find such a good chance to meet Axolotl?
With thanks, and best regards,

Ciao Paul. When the Nature is like a paint! A masterpiece.

Whoa! Another creature from outer space!
I myself have often wondered how you have special interview privileges with these amazing and exotic and endangered species, so I appreciate your explanation to Peter. A fascinating animal indeed. Excellently shot.
Thanks for letting us have of glimpse of all these great animals,
and in such vivid and sharp and intimate portrayals.
TFS. : )

Dear Paul, I added this smiley face to my theme "nature's Oddities" and thank you for your interesting, though sad notes

Thanks for sharing.
