The Great Blue Heron-One of the largest and highly widespread heron in North America, the tall, long-legged Great Blue Heron is easily spotted along the shores or edges of small inland ponds. Around summer and spring time, they tend to breed all over North and Central America, most of Canada, the Galápagos Islands, and the Caribbean. During winters, though some populations like to migrate towards Central and South America, they don't breed there. They are considered expert fishers. The technique they use to trap their aquatic prey is another interesting blue heron fact. They walk slowly or stand absolutely still for a long time, and wait for the fish to come in range. As soon as the prey is close enough to their long necks and blade-like bills, they deliver a deathly blow by thrusting their sharp bill, and swallow the entire prey with ease.

Hi Bill,

Wow what a spectacular capture of this Great Blue Heron, this must be one of the most intriguing action shots ive ever seen, superb sharpness with amazing clarity, exposure to the T, did this guy hang on to his catch because he doesn't seem to have a good grip on the fish?, this is Major League stuff here Bill and well done,
Best Regards,

Hi Bill,

a new master has arrived on TN, welcome Bill!

Your heron shot is really ART. Technically there is nothing wanting. My consolation is that you must have spent a lot of time before you got this chance with a Great Blue Heron AND its prey AND flying AND touching the water AND the right background and and ... I have marked the bird for my list of most favoured shots. Thanks for the presentation.

My best regards, Dietrich
