[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Found this beauty near my house. I assume it to be an Agapostemon.
The genus Agapostemon is a common group of Western hemisphere sweat bees of generally green or blue appearance (head and thorax always, sometimes also the abdomen in some females). There are some 45 species in the genus, ranging from Canada to Argentina. They superficially resemble various members of the tribe Augochlorini, which are typically metallic greenish in appearance. Members of this genus are commonly referred to as metallic green bees. |

Hallo Shir
A beauty this is indeed, and what it is I do not know, I thought it to be a Cuckoo wasp, but my knowledge is not that good. What I do know and can tell you that this is a striking macro, with gorgeous colours and some splendid details captured. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Hello Shir,
What an attractive image of this pretty little Sweat Bee. You have captured some fine detail and good DOF even with an f/3.2 aperture. Colors look vivid, yet natural and the exposure is right on the money. Great notes. Well done!!
Ron
Impressive macro Shir! Good composition and great sharpness! The metallic green colour is fantastic.
