[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Beyond aviaries and mammals, NE Washington States Turnbull Wildlife Refuge is full of greens of grasses and all of the colours of trees. The most predominant tress here are the Ponderosa Pine, Lodgepole Pine (pictured), white fir, red fir, ceder and Aspen.

Here we see lichen and moss covering the branches of the lower Lodgepole Pine. At this low of a height on the tree, darkness covers the floor of the forest providing important contrasts to the lighted areas which cannot sustain some forms of life import and int he food chain. the food chain is so very important in this almost biosphere like environs. I have pictured the area well over the years.

There is a quiet beauty to the wilderness area which is only broken by the cries of coyotes or sometimes the noise of elk and moose. Here I feel alone as I did in the wilds and away from the maddening crowds of the city. Unfortunately I am rarely able to be here now due to my ongoing recovery which is very slow...but I cannot complain. I have had a good life living in wilderness even more remote than this...I am Blessed..and Blessed to have friends such as you to share my experiences with.
Bob

Hello Bob, a beautiful scene indeed!!
There is something very special and alluring about a pine woods like this. I remember many times sitting in the pine thickets of Cooks Forest Pennsylvania just enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of fresh pine needles and rich dark soil.
Ocassionally you would hear the faint drumming of a Ruffled Grouse, the call of a turkey or just the chatter of a Red Squirrel, but it was the quiet peacefullness and secluded feeling that I remember most. Your photo reminds me of those many wonderful and carefree days I spent there as a young boy. TFS.

Hello Bob,
You found the right words to describe this picture: "Quiet beauty" yes , this is what I feel looking at it. Most beautiful and fine shot of a wonderful landscape. And the water shining through the vegetation is just like a promise of even more..
Love it. As usual well composed and presented.
Take care!
Anne
