|Tenaya Lake, located along the Tioga Road area in Yosemite National Park, is located in the front country between Yosemite Valley and Tuolemne Meadows. It is situated at 8,150 ft.(2,484 m.) elevation. I believe it is the largest lake in the park. This lake is a favorite place for swimming and is heavily used. |
Trees used to grow in the lake several centuries ago and remnants can still be seen. The lake is about 70 ft. deep. This area was formed by the Tenaya Glacier during the last ice age.
The native American Indians called this lake "The Lake of the Shining Rocks".

This is a beautiful Californian landscape. The mountains look so smooth compared to ours. What a beautiful dark blue lake and how well chosen its Indian name! Well chosen composition including the stones in the front. Well seen and for me interesting to see landscapes from your part of the world.
Thanks a lot too to have appreciated my flying moth picture.
Have a nice day
