Dog Lake is a high alpine lake within the Tuolemne Meadows area of Yosemite National Park. The elevation at the lake is 9,240 (2815m.) The trailhead to the lake starts in the meadow near Lembert Dome and the trail ascends beneath the dome itself. The trail ascends through a beautiful wooded forest of thick pine trees. The small streams were dried up in August. There are granite, rocky peaks that can be seen from several points along the trail.
The lake was named in 1898 by Robert Marshall of the U.S. Geological Survey when he found an abandoned sheepdog with pups at the lake.
The wildflowers have disappeared by August and one finds these bronze colored grassees along the banks of the lake.

Hello Karen,
What an attractive area and such a picturesque view. Love the vertical framing and beautiful colors, letting us know that fall is slowly approaching. This looks like a great place to spend the entire day with a camera.
