[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
While in Haines, Alaska we photographed Grizzly Bears fishing in the Chilkoot River. The Pink Salmon run was on and this is a glorious time for the bears to put of some much needed weight for winter's long sleep. We observed many different fishing styles, this bear used a charge and lunge method which worked well for her but this one got away.

Thrilling capture of failed attempt of a Grizzly trying to catch Salmon, Rick.
Very well timed shot with the fish in sharp focus outside water.
The tumult in water created by the bear's splash is also very natural and real.
Thanks and regards.

LOL oh i love it! Great action shot indeed! TFS!

Hi Rick,
really interesting and unusual photo. Grizzly Bears - they are very dangerous - I think. Incredible view of this flying fish. Excellent point of view.
Thanks for sharing,
Maciek

Hello Rick,
Great action shot, love the fish which is completely out of the water. I can imagine the thrill it must have been to watch the bears as they fished in the turbulent waters.
Ron

Hello Rick,
A fantastic action capture with fine colors, details & timing. Well composed & presented with a great natural setting. Great work & TFS. Regards & best wishes!

Hello Rick

WOW ! this is a great action shot, the salmon
is superbly focused I wish the same think
would be with the bear, I don't know if you
had close the aperture do F8 it would help you
to have better focus also to the bear's head,
but I see with the 1/500s the light was not
at the best, but with your full frame Canon
Rick you could easily shoot with higher ISO
like minimum ISO800 it would give you
more shutter speed, TFS
