seen a new bird! yesterday. once again, in my 'treasure island'. around 11: 30 am. after a bad weather & heavy rain for 18 hours, the next morning was bright, sunny. and all bird-watchers know very well that such a situation makes birds reckless.. they become more happy and less alert.

knowing that i had to go for birding. and i met some new birds :)

this bird, i knew was not a Great-crested Flycatcher (Myiarchus crinitus) that i usually get to see over there. Great-crested Flycatchers are slim and tall. but this bird was a bit healthier, calmer but bubbly :)

well, no doubt it was a 'flycatcher'. the shape & size said so. but which one? later, after studying for some time, i came to the conclusion that it might be an Eastern Phoebe (Sayornis phoebe). that's my most certain choice.. till now.
but still, i might be wrong. and in that case, i would like to get some expert advice and analysis.

thanks for viewing. happy to share..

Hello Ruby,
Very nice photo of this eastern Phoebe. It's still an immature, I think. Beautiful colours and good sharpness. Taken in a nice pose.
Regards,
Peter

Hello Ruby,
I believe you are correct on it's identity, looks like an Eastern Phoebe to me. I had a few hanging around the garden a couple weeks ago and figured they were getting ready to head south for the winter.

I like the way you captured this particular bird out in the wide open, where we can get a great look at it's colors and unique features. Great eye contact and beautiful natural coloration. Did you get to observe it diving down for any insects?
