[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The first hummers of the season arrived about two weeks ago here in Central Texas..

This is the Ruby-throated male, and I usually only see two species here.

The Black-chinned & Ruby-throated predominate, with sightings of other species rare.

So much patience is bound to go into obtaining a picture of this standard and quality, Howard.
Needless to say that this another gem of your picture embellishing TN once again.

Hello Howard,
A great capture of this pretty little Ruby-throated hummingbird. This is the only one that we see here in my part of Ohio. I actually would have thought there would be quite a variety down in your neck of the woods. I was in Sierra Vista Arizona a few years ago and they supposedly get as many as 18 species during the year.
Your fast shutter really froze this fellow in mid air allowing us to see the fine detail in it's plumage. Awesome shot!!
Ron

Hi Howard,
it's good to know you haven't forgotten the common mortal photographers on TN :-)
Thanks for reminding us that frontiers are to be pushed, not accepted.
My best regards, Dietrich
