Found this damselfly today. Looks like a Spotted Spreadwing (Lestes congener), male. But as I can't see the lower part of the thorax here clearly, I can't be sure about this ID. Spotted Spreadwing has two black marks at the lower part of thorax.

That apart, it looks very similar to Spotted Spreadwing. I am looking for other opinions though. Any opinion on its ID, is welcome.

I found this damselfly at Wachusett Meadow Wildlife Sanctuary.. which is a Mass Audubon sanctuary, and is located in Princeton, MA.

As a matter of fact, that sanctuary is full of this species of damselflies. If I say, I saw fifty such damselflies today, I won't be wrong! They were everywhere!

I took this picture using my long-time companion, Canon PowerShot SX40 HS. No tripod, no flash.

Thanks for viewing. Happy to share. :)

Very good macro, Ruby. The eyes in particular are well captured.

Hello Ruby,
A very good presentation of this pretty little damselfly. I checked my guide book and believe you are correct about the identity. It looks exactly like the Spotted Spreadwing photo in my book. Nicely focused and displaying beautiful natural colors. A special treat to see this attractive post from you today!!
