[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Locust Borer is quite common in Ohio and can usually be found on Golden Rod plants which thrive along nearby field edges. I found this particular specimen while out searching for butterflies.

Considered a Round-necked Longhorn, memembers of this subfamily (Cerambycinae) have protruding faces and lack thorax spines. The larva attack only Black Locust trees by burrowing into their bark. Most Cerambycidae larvae feed on dead, or decaying wood, but some feed on living plant tissue. This destruction can weaken limbs making them susceptible to damage from high winds.
