This is just another Puffball photo...I came acorss the little grouping yesterday afternoon under a stand of tall Sugar Maple trees. As you can see the colorful Sugar Maple leaves have fallen all around this little family.

Beside the colors making a nice foil for the fungi I thought it would be fun and interesting to post a photo of a Puffball that is either in the process of or just finished releasing it's spores. You can see the top of the large Puffball has a volcano like opening. This is where the spores are released into the air and travel to a new home for renewal perhaps next year. As a child I would love to come upon the Puffballs when they were ready to release their pores. Stepping lightly on them would render a cloud of spores that looked like "smoke signals" much to the delight of my young mind.

Good to knows that whether USA or Poland, children are the same and do the same things :-) Thank you for beautiful picture with story.

Lesley, Nice autumn colors framing your subject very well. Excellent detail in your subject also..Interesting personalized notes. Well done!

Niceone lesley the fall colours are brilliant, been too wet here in Uk for good colour. Are the small fungi at the front imature froms of the same puffball?, I ask because I have some pictures of both types but in completly seperate places

Hi Lesley
Thar she blows! A Puff is also a nice, fat puffadder here with us, so I was frantically looking to find it, but then realised you are talking about fungi, just as deadly sometime, when you consider the odds against snakes.
Very nice warm compo with the leaves here with lovely colours.

Another Puffball shot and very nicely captured!
Nice detail showing the pitted scars on the surface and the leaves provide perfect framing for the shot.
Excellent,well done.

Superb compo, this family portriat amongst the autum leaves are just lovely. Great shot.

The colourful leaves really contributes to the picture Lesley. I don't think we have them here - I have never seen them before but also I don't know much about fungi. I like the composition with the fungi just a little out of centre and find it very pleasant to look at.

Funny thing the black string around the baby fungus - looks like a forgotten cable release to a camera (my first thought).

Lesley, beautiful shot. Nice sharpness and composition. At first, I thought it was a nest, but then everything became clear. Great colors and good use of flash.
