Nesting herons - 1
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|There is a heron rookery on an island in the middle of the Potomac River near Great Falls. This morning I was able to capture some pictures of a pair of nesting Great Blue Herons. Its unusual in my experience to see them together - they generally seem to be solitary birds.|
Once again, the distance from the nest, which is tucked in among the trees, makes a clear and high quality shot difficult with amateur equipment, but I hope you enjoy what I think is a quite unusual sight.

Hi Alan, difficult location between the branches but obviously the natural place to do a nest,a very nice and interesting composition made with good sharpness, well done! Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano
A really difficult scenario to manage with so many branches in the foreground and background. Focusing would have been a real challenge but you managed it very nicely.
I have never seen two Herons together like this in their nesting place. Thanks for sharing this lovely image of the Herons in their habitat.
You will not get such moment daily, it's true. Nice to see them. Well vertical frame but quality is not high in my test too. All species are photogenic, but locations are not.
Thanks for sharing,
Excellent wildlife photography of these herons
camouflaged with their environment, excellent details, TFS
