It was quite difficult obtaining a suitable focus for a closeup on this small an area. Anyone have any techniques they use for a camera similar to the Nikon Coolpix S2? I used fill flash and macro setting.
I cropped the dark area to the left of the flower.

Its a good shot, but some detail is lost because it is a bit dark. This is easily remedied by decreaing shadows. Did a workshop and described what I did. Nice shot though.
Nice shot Dave. I need to know your F stop & shutter-speed to better evaluate your shot. You enter it when you upload..The single biggest issue in macro is obtaining adequate DOF. You need plenty of light and/or a tripod to steady your camera. If your camera has a manual mode use F/8 in (aperture priority) always for macro. Just a couple of things that might help. I'm not familiar with the S2 so perhaps you could contact a member that uses one? Greg did a great workshop here.
