Waimea Canyon

Waimea Canyon is the largest canyon in the Pacific and truly a dramatic sight to behold. The canyon measures 10 miles long, 1 mile wide, and more than 3,500-feet deep. It was carved thousands of years ago by rivers and floods that flowed from Mount Waialeale's summit. The lines in the canyon walls depict different volcanic eruptions and lava flows that have occurred over the centuries. Even though smaller than the Grand Canyon of Arizona, Waimea Canyon rivals the beauty. Numerous lookouts and hikes offer terrific views of every aspect of this natural wonder. The canyon is protected by the Koke'e State Park which encompasses 4,345 acres of land and has 45 miles of trails that run through the canyon and the nearby Alakai Swamp.

I love canyons shots. It's always impressive with great colors. Especially this one, with the contrast of the bright greens and the red rocks ! Did you get close to that waterfall on the left ?
TFS !
Pascal.

Oh Manyee, I couldnt agree more with the things you said, I enjoyed Waimea mor ethan I did the big brother in Arizona. Just those waterfals and the white heron flocks flying low above the canopy was such a majestic sight, all that next to the bluest of Polinesian waters... My piece of paradise right there on the Na Pali coast...

Hi Manjee, Great capture. The colurs of Hawaii are very unique, especially those lush greens.
Thanks
Paul

I agree with the beauty of this canyon. Looks more green and luxuriant than Grand Canyon.

Hi Manyee,
This is a superb capture of beautiful landscape,
excellent composition and nice moving light,
great colour, and very good depth..
Very well done!

Hi Manyee,
What a great landscape shot! This was one place I did not get to see on my limited stay on the big island. Planning to back to Hawaii in 2008, and hopefully get in some time here. Amaing colors, DOF, and scale to this shot. WOW!

Hello Manyee!

Impressive landscape. A lot of haze that suggest the depht of this landscape. However it seems to desaturate colors. I tried a WS. You may prefer your version and that ok. Arts would be boring if everybody would see the same way ;o)
Nice work and TFS.

Beautiful and well composed landscape ManYee.

It must be a burden for you to have to take such photos in these terrible conditions :-D

An excellent choice of POV, and wonderful colors, exposure, lighting.

Great job, thank you!

Well earned smile now, critique later :-)

That is beautiful, and unexpected!

Wonderful view ManYee. I like the light & cloud shadow mix across the landscape and the waterfall seen. Well done.
Thank You!

Hi ManYee,

You asked me what I would do with this photo, so I played around with it and came up with two versions. I emailed them both to you. Tell me which one you would like me to post as a workshop.

This photo has potential that could be brought out with some pp. It seems to me, a little unsaturated and disjointed as it is. I'm curious to hear what you think. : )
