Going back to my home state in the spring is a favorite excursion. Northern California's "golden" (dry!) hills turn a luscious green. I love the way they contrast with the oaks. This was taken off of Highway 101 between Santa Rosa and Eureka.

I had a hard time getting the contrast and saturation correct for posting on TN. When I had it correct on my monitor, it was washed out once saved for web posting! So I probably overdid it... : /

Great shot ! This is a very beautiful landscape, and composition is great. This lonely tree is fantastic. Colors are a bit over saturated in my opinion but it is still a verty nice picture. Well done !

Hi Evelynn,
very pretty and appealing landscape, perfectly concentrated to just a few elements.
Good details, and strongly saturated but still subtle shades of green that provide a very inviting, naturalistic impression.
Well visible how much you love that beautiful place, and the time of the year.
Thank you! Best regards,

Hi Evelynn,

Very nice landscape.
Very good composition, colours and expos.

Hi Evelyn
Very symplistic, but beautiful landscape comprising of this solitary tree and roving hills. I just can not figure out what's happening in the piece of sky in the left hand top corner.
Well done
Last one!

Green... green... green... the effect is awesome! Spring indeed, I guess it had just rained?
I love the lines, and that fabulous old tree!

Gorgeous shot, Evelynn! Fantastic colour, composition, detail and POV. The windblown oak is very effective. TFS.

Hello Evelynn,
Is it a phot or a paint?. Wonderful composition & intense colors; I love the ondulations and specially the tree isolation.
Very good job

Hi Evelynn,
Great to see you back as well. How was your trip to CA? What a lovely scenery with such a beautiful view and an excellent capture of the single tree. The PP work might be a little over done, but does not hurt the overall image at all. It is just too attracting to the viewers eye. I see you used a different type of framing, how did you do it?

Did you get your new camera?

very nice landscape
and very nice lonely tree composition
best wishes

Very nice image Evelynn
Good detail, colours and sharpness. exposure and lighting are good. Good POV and composition.

Thanks for posting, have a great weekend.

Beautiful landscape, Evelynn.
At first I thought it was taken on our hike on Russian Ridge, but I guess this is a signature California scene, and I love it too. : )
The composition is striking in its simplicity... and iconic significance. : )

Excellent capture Evelynn, this is really nice and the strong composition catches my eye. I am not sure about the colour balance though as it looks overly yellow to me. I normally over saturated posts to TN as I find the colours never look as vivid when uploaded for some reason. Very well done.

Hi Evelynn,
A simple but very beautiful image.I think there is a lot of emotion in there - solitude, sadness and loneliness that is so emphasised by the lone tree.I agree with loot that the composition is almost perfect apart from the top left corner and there is maybe a touch over saturation.Nice detail with good depth of focus...well done.
Regards, David

Hi Evelynn,
A simple but beautiful scene, excellent composition. The only advice I can give on the colour (which I really like by the way, I think it has real impact) is to set the colour space on the image to sRGB before you start work on it. The image will be converted to sRGB when uploaded to TN (and by the sound of it when saved for web) so if your work is done in that colour space then the posted image will have correct colours.
Best regards,

oh you went and did it...my favourite colours and subjects...peaceful greens and prodigious trees...
thank you
god bless
i like that little line in the frame..is it easy to do..

My God! is it for real/ Great

Hi Evelynn

Nice picture. Like the way it's presented. Rolling green hills gives the tone to the picture. The tree is placed on the right side and in the upper left corner, you can see what is like part of a mountain that gives depth to the picture. Well done.

I saw the thumbnail and had to visit.

like you say a touch over saturated, but still stunning. I like the composition and the tree very much and the buttercups in the foreground....

Hi, Evelynn.
I think it's very nice composition with some beautiful curves and lonely tree. Nice colors.

The idea and compo works for me. I find the colors a bit over staurated bit not distracting. Well done, Evelynn.

Wonderful shot Evelynn, beautiful colors and composition!!!

Now here is a photo for the ages, worthy of any living room wall. The colours really "pop".
Thanks for sharing this masterpiece!

Evelynn....this is gorgeous, such vivid colours. I love the composition and framing. The old tree adds nice texture and interest to the picture. TFS Janice

wonderful shot ... excellent colours and tones Best wishes, kona

I love the statement trees can make. This one does it for me. The questions raised fascinate me. Why it is the only one left?. Has there beena prevailing wind? etc. I can understand the difficulty preparing this one for posting. Barry

If that isn't the stomache bile of green. Nice flow of grass and a tree that agrees. Fabulous! Trevor
