Reaching Out

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I took shots of this iris from lots of different POVs, and at the time I thought I would like the straight-down POV the best. Turns out, I think this POV looks the nicest because of how the DOF makes the main yellow petal look like it's reaching off the photograph. I tried auto-levels, but that created a lot of unnatural blue hues on the white petals in the background, so I desaturated a lot of blue. I also ended up taking out some yellow, because auto-levels added too much. |

Hi Brian
This sure is a lovely flower and you presented it very well in your photo.
I think you did great with your PP and the final colour balance is perfect and natural. The composition is swell and I like the tight crop. The details are amazingly sharp, the dark BG enhances the flowers beautifully and the exposure was perfectly managed.
Very well done and TFS.

Hello Brian,
I like straight-down POV and composition of this image. Beautiful playing with DOF and PP. Lovely lighting, shapes and colors. Nice framed too.
Thanks

Good use of the backlight.
Nice colors and sharpness.

Hi Brian,
You are becomming better and better at controlling the exposure and enhancing the photo. This one is very beautiful and the colors and sharpness are spot on. The tight crop works perfectly and allows for lots of details and depth.
TFS,
Niek
