[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken at the Cape Mears National Wildlife Refuge, near Oceanside on the Oregon Coast. Mike and I spent 3 days there for our 20th wedding anniversay and had a great time despite the rain. On our visit to the Cape Mears Refuge, it was POURING down rain. I took an umbrella to protect my camera and allow me to still take my photos. I probably made quite a site juggling an umbrella and camera.

Cape Meares National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1938 to protect one of the last remnants of coastal old growth forest. Huge Sitka spruce and western hemlock, some over 200 feet tall and hundreds of years old, provide habitat for federally threatened bird species, including bald eagles.

For a list of all the birds that live here you can look on the Cape Mears National Wildlife Refuge Website. On this day we saw quite a few birds and were able to hear the sea lions from Three Arches Rocks National Wildlife Refuge just to the south.

Hi Lori,
This looks so simular to the Washington coast and that is obvious since it is the same coastline. It just remind me of my vacation from last year and it brought back great memories. Thank you for that part. I really like the composition of the photo, but would have gone for a smaller aperture to get more depth further into the photo. Colors and light are beautiful.
TFS,
Niek
