Ok, that's it, the last photo I will upload on Grand Teton NP. The next photo will be of a less familiar area in Montanta. I am ending with another view from Oxbow Bend but this time, as requested, the landscape version.

I found this on the NPS site:

Imagine visiting Grand Teton National Park 85 million years ago. You would see a much different landscape. Stretching before you would be a great inland sea, which deposited layers of sediment on top of 2.4 billion year old granites and 2.8 billion year old gneisses. Jump forward 25 million years; those seas have retreated, and a major event, the Laramide Orogeny, is forming the Rocky Mountains. The Teton Range lies hidden beneath the unbroken surface and is waiting for a much younger and different series of events.

The Teton Fault spans the entire length of the Teton Range's eastern front. Sometime between two to thirteen million years ago marked the beginning of uplifts, accompanied by a series of a few thousand earthquakes along that fault. These sporadic bursts of energy created the abrupt front of the Teton Range as it faces Jackson Hole. At 13,770 feet, the summit of the Grand Teton towers nearly 7,000 feet above the valley floor. Total vertical displacement along this fault has been close to 23,000 feet. The valley of Jackson Hole dropped 16,000 feet, more than twice as much as the mountains rose. The beauty of the Teton Range lies in its majestic size and rugged appearance.

Beginning as early as 2 million years ago, glaciers scoured and sculpted the Teton landscape. Large masses of ice flowed from the topographic high of the Yellowstone Plateau down into the valley of Jackson Hole. Fingers of ice, pulled by gravity, flowed from the high Teton peaks down into the valley. Grand Teton National Park contains piedmont lakes, U-shaped canyons, knife-like ridges, kettles, moraines, and other glacial features.

Grand Teton National Park, as it is today, boasts dramatic vistas and a geologic story that is by no means over. This story still involves active geologic forces including glaciers, but the Teton Fault lies dormant. There has been a gap in seismic activity along the fault, but eventually it will lurch into action. Imagine a rubber band that is stretched to its limit; sooner or later it will break. For the Teton Fault it is not a matter of if, but when, it will move again.

Just beautiful, Niek.
That is a picture to meditate to... or on... : )
Such a serene scenery...
I think the sky and water colors are perfect.
Perfect light and smoothness on the river.
The trees are crisp and well saturated, the mountains mystical-looking.
A magnificent scenery. TFS. : )

Niek

this is perfect - just wonderful.... can't give you any more than that... other than another favourite.

Just perfect.

Emma

Crystal clear image, I can almost feel the oxygen pour out from the screen as I view this fantastic image. Thanks Niek, for your input. :)

What a beautiful capture Niek! Great clarity of image and I love the mirrored reflection. I would personally have lowered the composition so as not to clip the reflection of the tree and balance composition more. Very well done.

in my oppinion a perfect composition.

I do rather like this landscape version Niek. Personally I would have pointed the camera a bit lower to get less sky and a bit more FG, but what you have here is quite impressive.

I like it, Niek! I like it a lot. It's a great combination of elements, well exposed, and I like the way the composition leads my eye back and forth through the middle ground of the scene.

So I am consistent about the kind of crop I like. Would I have driven you nuts if I asked for more fg or more sky? ;-)

Definitly this is a wonderful scenery. Very well captured, rich colors and excellent clarity. The reflexion is superb. Perhaps less sky for composition. But I prefer Oxbow Bend II...
Congratulations Niek and thanks for sharing this pleasure for eyes.

Gorgeous landscape, I could never have enough of this. This is how paradise looks like to me!

Saludos... Ricardo

I like this composition Niek, by POV, for the beauty of the achieved reflection and for the contrast of colors well marked by areas of the image... the water and sky blues, the greens of the groves and foliage and the soft tones of the mountains and their spots of snow.
A beautiful image, without doubts.
Regards... Ricardo

Niek ,
the reflection are fantastic and your note is very educational.
it has a very common affect .

Hallo Niek,
Prachtige foto, beter dan de verikale. Mooie weerspiegeling, de bocht in de rivier trekt je blik mee naar het midden van de foto en de bergen op de achtergrond.
Beste groeten,
Danny

Hello Niek,
This is a very nice postcard with great colours, fantastic reflections in the water and good DOF :)
On the other hand it si pitty that you cut a lower part of picture (it would be great to see "full" reflections of the forest). It would be easy to to if you cut some part of sky :)
Anyway, very nice picture.
Best regards,
Radomir

Hi Niek ,
