The Clipper
Parthenos sylvia

India to China, Malaysia,, Philippines, New Guinea

Various species in the passion flower vine family (Passifloraceae)

This species is probably the most photographed butterfly exhibited in North American butterfly houses, due to its striking color patterns and its habit of sitting open-winged on flowers for long periods of time. These butterflies seem to be undisturbed by the movements of photographers, almost as if posing for a picture. They also come in many color patterns depending upon the place of origin, including a brown-striped subspecies from the Philippines and a blue-striped sub species from Malaysia.

Hi Maynee,
I love this for the contrast and colors. Good details and use of the flash! Interesting notes about this species. TFS,

Hello Manyee,
The details are nice and clear. The focus appears a touch soft to me.
Good colours. DOF is spot on and the POV is good.
Well composed and good framing.
Thanks for posting, have a great weekend MF.

Hi Manyee,
Good shot of this beautiful butterfly. Everywhre in the world when I had possibility took pictures, I never did because of high humidity in glasshouse botanical gardens. How you keep your camera from humidity?

Hmm, I hope to see this this stunning b'fly at his home next week... Trully looks like the color palette of a painter grew wings.

Hi Manyee,
Looks like you took this when is already dark outside, or was it inside with just a little light? Anyway, the use of the flash brought out the colors of the butterfly perfectly. I love the colors and the details.

Hi ManYee,
Nice sharp detail with lovely color and light. Your flash did a great job of lighting up the subject, and the dark BG sets it apart very well :) Well framed closeup also..
Well done and TFS!

Hi ManYee,

This is a real beauty. The markings are especially nice. I like the soft colors. The BG is perfect for this shot. I like just the butterful and the green leaf in full clarity. The slight angle is nice.
