[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On the top of the Logan Pass we parked our car and wanted to go for a nice walk. But being it that the pass just opened two weeks before we arrived everything was still covered with snow, and we were only wearing our sandles. We did go for a walk, but soon after our feet turned blue. So we turned around and stayed near the ranger station. Then I noticed this Ground Squirrel sitting behind a rock eating. I kneeled down and tigered closer and made a few photos. Actually there was no need at all to be so carefull, since the squirrels are so used to humans that they don't bother.

I am by far a wildlife photographer and don't have the right equipment for it, but when you encounter animals that are not afraid for humans even I am able to capture them.

Hi Niek
Well seen and captured. Good sharpnes, details and POV.
Well done Niek

Hi Neik
Very nice capture. I a glad this little critter was so willing to pose. Good sharpness.

Hi Niek,
You did very well on this one. The overall compostion and framing look good. Spot on exposure has nice colors and detail. What makes this is the low POV. You say you kneeled down, but it looks like you were laying on your stomach to get eyeball to eyeball with him. (Something I would do).
That makes it for me!

Nicely captured, Niek. Great details and lighting. It's a very nice portrait. Great colors (I'm gonna have to try some raw shots!)I like the off-center composition, too. You might look at cropping out the dark bit on top, with more of a panorama, personally I think it would be a bit better that way.
P.S. Not only aren't these guys afraid of humans, humans aren't afraid of them (if they do charge you, who cares)!

That is a super sharp capture of this ground squirrel, Niek.
The colors are beautiful and very natural, and the POV is fun.
He is very cute with his little hands held in front of him, and him chewing away at some nut.
TFS. : )

Hello Niek,
A pleasant portrait,
Great details in the little guy, the fur coat loooks like very natural and he is captured in good colours!
I like the fact the grass in front of him also is sharp, making animal and nature one!

Hi Niek

Excellent low POV. Nicely composed with good catchlight in the eye. :-)

nicely caught Niek. Sometimes you have to turn you attention elsewhere when the landscapes can't be gotten at and the wildlife is the logical choise.

I like the really low POV for this one.

Hello Neik, excellent shot, perfect details, excllent POV DOF BG details, are super great composition, great Job, TFs Kyle

Well, now that you have identified the Glacier ground squirrels I'll post mine. I got several cute shots too. "DO NOT FEED THE WILDLIFE!". Let's see, I think I have one eating an M&M and one eating a peanut: But it's not my fault if people drop food around! : ) It does make for some tame animals and easy shooting. This one is cute. I think I would prefer to have the whole animal in the shot. On my best one I cut the tail off so I know how difficult it can be sometimes.

Hello Niek,
very cute critter you captured. I guess they train their Ground squirrels to be nice to the photographers and let them come close;-). Lovely details and a wonderful POV.

Hoi Niek,

Dit is een leuk beestje zeg! Hele mooie details en perfect belichting op de grondeekhoorn. De witte vlekken achter de kop van de eekhoorn zijn een beetje afleidend. Verder is het een uitstekende foto. TFS!

Hoi Niek,

Goeie foto!

Groetjes, Nel
