Morning light on this peak across Swiftcurrent Lake from the Many Glacier Hotel. I thought the details where amazing on the clear morning. The ranger told us about the horizontal band of darker rock across the range that demonstrates a volcanic period and the evidence of the heat from that layer can be seen in how the adjacent rock has been cooked white. (I wish I could remember more, but perhaps some geologists will help us out.)

A day and a half before this photo was taken there was a bit of snow in the higher elevations. Remnants can be seen in the shady side of the mountain.

At the very bottom of the shot you can see the boat dock on the far side of the lake. There is a boat that runs from the hotel dock across the lake that can be used as a short cut to Grinnell lake. It was an amazing lake and I'll be posting some shots from that trip next.

Hi Mike,
Now that is one big hunk of rock! I love the clarity and sense of depth here. Overall composition looks great. Amazing clear blue skies.

Hi Mike,
I'm catching up after a weekend of almost no Internet. You got some really stunning photos from Glacier, Looks like the time of season was much better when I was there. Looks like the lighting at Glacier is even harsh in the morning. But you controlled it well. Maybe a tad more contrast in the rock paer, but for the rest excellent.
TFS,
Niek
