[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Last weekend, we took a whale watching trip with Sanctuary Cruises (highly recommended outfit based in Moss Landing, www.sanctuarycruises.com) and were lucky enough to find ourselves in the middle of a pod of gray whales. They were popping up on all sides of the boat (the boat was in neutral, we were not following them!), seemingly enjoying our presence.

The gray whales are now on their southern migration route and this is the peak of their migration.

This was shot at 300 with a Canon IS lens.

Cropped it a little, increased color saturation a little, sharpened a little, and NeatImage for good measure.

WOW. How big was your ship ? The whales are really big, isn't it ? I've never viewed a whale by myself ... only on TV ...
