|Last weekend, we took a whale watching trip with Sanctuary Cruises (highly recommended outfit based in Moss Landing, www.sanctuarycruises.com) and were lucky enough to find ourselves in the middle of a pod of gray whales. They were popping up on all sides of the boat (the boat was in neutral, we were not following them!), seemingly enjoying our presence. |
The gray whales are now on their southern migration route and this is the peak of their migration.
This was shot at 300 with a Canon IS lens.
Cropped it a little, increased color saturation a little, sharpened a little, and NeatImage for good measure.

WOW. How big was your ship ? The whales are really big, isn't it ? I've never viewed a whale by myself ... only on TV ...
