The Canada Goose

The Canada Goose, or Branta canadensis is a large goose with a black head and neck, white stripe on the side of the head, and brown feathers. The tip of the tail and feet are black. It lives in just about the entire North American continent and in some areas is even considered a menace. They are known to hang out in meadow areas - including the sides of highways, golf courses, playing fields, parks, and more. These Geese are very people-friendly and will eat anything from bread to insects, and from corn to fish. They can weigh up to 24 pounds and have a wingspan of almost 6 feet.
It's amazing to think that back in the 60s, Canada Geese were considered endangered.
The Canada Goose is the most familiar and common of geese in all North America. The size decreases northward with the smallest living in the high Arctic coastal tundra. A brownish body with a black head, long black neck and white chin strap characterize the coloring of this goose. A rich, musical honking is the call of the larger species and a high pitched cackling is that of the smaller.
The Canada goose is well known for its V-shaped migrating flocks and characteristic honk. Canada Geese They can be aggressive when approached and cause trouble when they decide to hang out somewhere that people need to go. Most towns in the US now have Canada Geese during some or their entire migration path.

Canada Geese have a strong sense of family. A pair of parents mate for life, raising anywhere from 4 to 7 eggs a year. The eggs incubate for around 30 days before hatching. The parents both defend the nest and tend to the little chicks. Sometimes several parents will join together, taking joint care of the chicks.

The parents will stay with their young all year, migrating with them and taking care of them. If you watch a large flock of Canadian Geese fly overhead, you can often see the family groups separate out as they come in to land. Canadian Geese can live to age 30 or more.

HOPE YOU LIKE IT.

hi jorge

Hi Jorge

I like your foursome of flying geese. They almost form a V in the frame and you managed to capture all of them with great details. The composition worked very well and the colours are natural. I particularly fancy the movement you’ve capture in wings of the one at the bottom and the fact that each one shows us a different bearing. The exposure was well controlled under these circumstances.

Good work and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Jorge

Nice shot of these in-flight Canada Geese. Nice composition. Clear details too. Very nice work. TFS.

Hi Jorge,

A very good composition on this picture! I like the reversed triangle in this composition! It makes the photo very dynamic! Using the sky as a plain background emphasizes the geese. The exposure is also very good! Nice frame too! It compliments the shot! Outstanding work! Thanks!

Regards,
Eddie

Hello Jorge !
Wow, this is a splendid picture ! You have frozen the geese perfectly, with super sharp details. The composition of the picture is also very beautiful, as well as the colors, and the blue sky makes an wawesome BG for these geese. Very well done !
