Washington Close-Up
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Another picture of Mount Washington early morning at sunrise. This close-up was taken about 10 minutes after my 'Capturing The Light' picture. As you see, the color tones are more orange than pink. It show how color changes rapidly at sunrise (or sunset).
This close-up display the rugged features of Mount-Washington. The left rocky ridge is called 'Lion Head' and the flat area below the summit cone is 'The Alpine Garden' that is famous for it's easy hikes with spectacular landscape.
You can find on the summit the weather observatory where on April 12 1934, the world record wind speed of 231 MPH was recorded, and it still stands today.

Hi Patrick,
Now that you mentioned about the record of the wind speed, I know what I am looking at. A mountain I know from Discovery Channel. That observatory really has to deal with some cold weather and extreem winds.
The orange and pink colors of the rising sun are beautifully captured with good details in the mountains and a really awesome colored sky.
