I really enjoy reading about your technique. I certainly admire your perseverance. Numb toes finish me in a hurry. So, guess what I got.... Battery heated socks... can you imagine?! They are super. A size "D" battery keeps toes toasty for 7-8 hours. Yo managed great sharpness on the whole bird with that very shallow depth of field. Nice work.

Another splendid shot from you and a very beautiful bird you present us here today!
It seems your efforts were worth it and the result is a wonderful one!
The 1.4x teleconverter sure aided you to capture such a charming portrait and gave you that extra "mile" so that the head details would really be impeccably sharp.
The colors are indeed brilliant but still keep a very natural look, the DOF is excellent and the vertical composition great!

I like so much the crop and details shown in this picture.
A very good POV to catch the pose of the bird and all the clear and sharp details seen, as always.
You managed so well the DOF to use the overcast sky and turn it into a background that works pretty well in the photo.
