As I have no new images to show, this is a modified repeat of one of my early postings on TN. Unfortunately I forgot to mark as a re-post. You can see the first posting here . I have improved the composition and removed some noise.
In other words TN has taught me to improve my presentation of an image. In return I hope that I have helped others in the same way as well as supplying info. about the species.

Sword-grass brown (Tisiphone abeone)

This species is one of the exceptions to the tendency for Satyr butterflies to look dowdy.
This was photographed in a small nature reserve in Manly Vale, a suburb of Sydney. I used my wife's camera, her Canon Powershot S2 IS, which is very handy.
Most of the specimens of this Butterfly appear to fade and get worn very quickly, which makes this individual a lucky find. At first I thought it was a Nymphalid, but the eye markings, characteristic of Satyrs, soon made me change my mind.
It is found from Southern Queensland to SE Australia in various forms.

Hallo Ivan
When you posted this image at first I have not been part of Trek Nature yet, and therefore it is completely new to me. This is really beautiful. The combination of dark colours on the wings is really special. Add the spot of fern on which it is resting, and it rounds of to a most beautiful presentation. A lovely close-up with great focus, sharpness and framing all in one. Presented in a most pleasant manner. Thanks for sharing. Kind regards.

Hi Ivan.
What a beauty you managed to catch and what wonderful scenery where you have found it. POV and composition of the shot as well as the pose of the fine butterfly are amazing. Especially I like superb reproduction of the wing texture (it is clear details and colour reproduction are great) and pleasantness of the BG blurriness. Bravo. Great use of all your various equipment. My compliments and best regards.
Alexei.

Hello Ivan,
an unusual, very beautifully looking member of the Satyridae family, indeed, that you are perfectly well presenting here in a pleasantly well composed arrangement. So many well visible details in the dark parts!
I like your simple and clear brief notes. Speaking of TN: By combining the aim of learning about nature from observations of nature from all parts of the world with improving the skills of taking pictures and optimizing them for presentation, TN to me is unique and unsurpassed. Same as you, I have received a lot from this virtual community, and I am happy and grateful to be here. You are among the leading ones of those skilled photographers who are providing the high level of information on this platform. Thank you! Always a pleasure to see your fresh postings, and to read your critiques and comments.
With best regards,
Peter

Nu har gråvädret slagit till igen, ingen sol på en vecka snart.
Med snön smälter sakta bort, så kanske snödropparna tittar fram om någon vecka.

Hello Ivan,
At first I would thank you to have stayed on this site, because it would have been such a loss for us to loose all this knowledge. J'ai été si touchée par le départ d'Ulla; je regardais les images ā fur et ā mesure qu'elles disparaissaient..j'en ai presque pleuré.
You show us here exactely the important impact on everyone coming on this site. We all had the chance to improve our skills thanks to others and to learn so much about the whole world.
With this beautiful butterfly-picture you illustrate so well what all TN is about.
Un trčs grand merci
Anne

Hi Ivan. i had a look at the older posting of this Butterfly and i must say you have done a good job. This is such a colourful one with the orange ad blue on the dark wings. A good top POV so we can see all of the markings. well done TFS.

Hello Ivan !
I suppose you're waiting for the spring and summer to return, so you'll have new pictures to show us - in the meantime, this old one is very beautiful. You're really talented, and I understand what you mean about learning to impriove the presentation of a picture - feels the same for me. And I can assure you that you have helped MANY people here. You have given me ID so many times, and always useful comments, and you did the same for so many other members here. You're a great part of TN.

Hello Ivan,
I can't remember your original posting of this butterfly, but this image certainly looks very good.
I agree. TN is a wonderful place to learn all about photography technique,as well as nature.

Ivan, What a colorful shot. I am 100% in line with ram sir. TN has changed my learning a lot and came in contact with such a gem of people. Thank you for presenting. Ganesh

Almost missed this beauty Ivan, a good POV and illumination, plus your expertise in capturing such images provided us with these velvety wings and spore laden fern leaves. TFS this fine image my friend.
Cheers and my best regards to Ulla,
Mehmet

Hi Ivan!

Yes, you help a lot and are an important pillar of this community. Your critiques and comments are always well funded and competent.

You present us this beautiful butterfly for the second time. I don't see very spectacular differences, but the idea of removing the noise is fine and adds to the value of the picture. Also the composition has not chenged very much, now the focus is a bit closer and the main subject is more emphasized. The colours are superb and the clarity is marvellous.

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Ivan,

Many thanks for the feedback and apologise for not being around much lately, work is a little crazy at the moment.

This is a super shot, the detail in the blue/black wings is stunning, and those coloured markings are just so beautiful.

That narrow d.o.f has framed this so well with the Butterfly and the stem its resting on all pin sharp, just great photography.

t.f.s Cheers Rick :0)

This is a fantastic work with a very artistic and imaginative eye behind the viewfinder the bright, crisp, clear and steady shotcontaining great details and excellent DOF with gradually blurred BG.The thin frme is adding the ellegance of shot. Its lovely. And last thing my dear no bad feelings that was my point of view which most of you didnt like but I said what I felt at that time and now.tfs
