Wollemi Pine 2
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Yesterday I posted a photo of the female cone of the Wollemi Pine. Today it is the male cones turn (and they do look a bit phallic).
I must mention that Wollemi Pines are not even related to true pines.
The female cones are wind pollinated from the males and it then takes up to 2 years for the seeds to mature at which time the cones disintegrate and the cone branches then die.
The trees themselves are extremely long lived with some believed to be between 500 and 1,000 years old. |

Hello Ian,

Thanks for sharing,
