Hi
I was lucky enough to catch a couple of Rainbow Lorikeets visit the grevillea bushes outside my home today. They normally fly in of a morning to feed on the nectar but by the time I have grabbed my camera, they usually take flight. I had my new Macro Lens on and I am really impressed at the detail in the feathers it seems to be getting.

Rainbow Lorikeets are 26-31 cm long and have a distinctive flight silhouette. Flocks dart, twist and wheel among trees or fly straight and direct above forest canopies. They live in diverse habitats: rainfores, eucalypt forest, woodland, farmland, paperbark woods and heath and mangroves.

They feed on fruit, nectar, blossoms, seeds, berries and orchard fruit. In flight gives frequent, quite pleasant, softly rasping or vibrating musical screeches. They have softer mellow chattering and subdued screeches while feeding and twitter quietly when resting.

Rainbow Lorikeets are found along the east coast of Australia, coastal areas of Northern Territory and in suburbs surrounding Perth.

The image was shot in RAW, cropped and sharpened.

Hallo Sue
This is a super shot of a beautiful bird. The glossy effect on the green part of the plumage is very fascinating and interesting. I have seen many of these birds before, but this one is an absolute eye-catcher. I like the different colours, forming stripes on the plumage. The red circle around the eye place the cherry on the cake and rounds of this beautiful photo. Thank you for sharing this beauty with us. A beautiful portrait. Framing and presentation are excellent.
Kind regards
Anna
