This gorgeous couple lives in Lake Tinaroo. They kept following me whenever I was kayaking around, which is not so unusual for me, having grown up with two pet ducks who thought they were my guard dogs. I love this photo, but there is something not quite right with it so would love some advice.

Some more info on the Pacific Black Duck..

Pacific Black Duck (Anas superciliosa) is one of the most versatile of the Australian ducks. It frequents all types of water, from isolated forest pools to tidal mudflats, and is found in all but the most arid regions of Australia. This duck is mainly vegetarian, feeding on seeds of aquatic plants. This diet is supplemented with small crustaceans, molluscs and aquatic insects. Food is obtained by 'dabbling', where the bird plunges its head and neck underwater and upends, raising its rear end vertically out of the water. Occasionally, food is sought on land in damp grassy areas.
The Pacific Black Duck is closely related to the Mallard, A. platyrhynchos, introduced into Australia from the Northern Hemisphere. The two species are very similar in habits and occupy the same niche in the two regions. The two species will interbreed in situations where Mallards have been released.

Hello Janina,
I remember these ducks well from Australia and here you've captured them very nicely as they're both facing you in identical poses. Good focus, sharp details and natural colours. Fine composition too but personally I would have cropped it more on the right. Even so a nice shot!
TFS and regards, Ulla
