Continuing my series of subjects taken from my recent visit to Padminka Nature Reserve. This is a Brown Honeyeater (Lichmera indistincta) a reasonably common species that has a wide distribution over the Australian continent. Indeed it only really absent from the arid interior and the south-east. This one is a sub-adult as it still retains the yellow gape (between bill and eye) which is lost in adults.
Brown Honeyeaters are one of the most vocal honeyeaters, always singing and chattering throughout the day. They are found in pairs or small groups through a wide variety of habitats from inland shrubby plains, through open woodlands and forests, rainforest margins and of course parks and gardens. They are 120mm (5 in) in size and breed between June and January.

Hi Chris.
Thanks a lot for kind comments and "large" estimation of my "small" spider.

Your three-dimensional close-up of a nice bird is so impressive. I like its photogenic pose a lot as well as great sharpness of the bird and twig and nice blurred pictorial BG. Excellent job and my kind wishes.

Hi Chris,

This lovely bird may be common in Australia but I have not seen one before. You captured him in a wonderful pose showing off his face and lovely plummage in fine detail. I love the yellow eye markings!

Hello Chris,
I've seen this one but taken a bad early morning pic. This is a fine portrait of the Brown Honeyeater, a little soft but contrasting nicely against the bokeh BG in a great pose and froma fine POV.
TFS this reminder of our visit to Queensland.

Hi Chris!

Looks like you've got endless supply of interesting bird in your country :-) Very well composed with diagonal twig and honeyeater in interesting pose. I like its shinning eye, beak [surely suitable for eating honey ;-)] and yellow stripe on head.
