Note
I started walking away after my photo and this Dusky Moorhen swam up and proceeded to eat off his shell. This went on for a few moments then the Moorhen went about his way and the turtle did nothing. I was quite surprised by this event. This photo was cropped.

KREFFT’S RIVER TURTLE
Emydura macquarii krefftii

Occupies coastal river systems of Queensland, from the Mary River in the south, north to Charlotte Bay.

Can be distinguished from other members of the complex by the yellow stripe behind the eye.

Some consider Krefft’s River Turtle a full species.
