Transition to Spring
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|The transition to spring has begun. In the temperate rain-forrest of Southern Victoria the tree-ferns are starting their new growth. |
It is wet still.
The clouds are still low in the gullies there even though it is very windy higher up. The tree ferns only survive in wind protected gullies. There is little noise in the gully apart from the driving-southerly wind high in the tree-tops.
Last year's fronds seem to droop more and appear to pass the energy onto the uncurling new-season fronds.

Where have you been????? I love your photo. The sharpness is really good and the soft greens are beautiful. I love the background with the trees fading into the fog. Uncurling new fronds make a super focal point.
For a moment your title seemd rather inappropriate for September, but then I realised you are on the other side, so to speak and all became clear. Lovely evocative shot of forest and cloud. Reminds me of time spent up maounatins in SE Asia some years ago. Many thanks
