I took the photo of this dragonfly in flight in Swan Hill a few weeks ago. When I looked at the photo I noticed a fine "silk" trailing from the tail of this insect. I have since observe this in other dragonflies as well, usually about 4-5 cm long. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this is?

Hi Sitthivet, nice and crisp image. I could be wrong but having observed this before I think it's where the dragonfly has flown into a spider web. I have seen threads trailing of several meters.
Kind regards
Andrew
