In Kakadu National Park they often talk about "water lilies". From what I can work out, however, they are actually talking about lotus flowers (I think Nelumbo Nucifera). This particular one was seen in the popular tourist area of Yellow Water. The flower has had quite a few bites taken from the ends of the petals. Enjoying this flower are both a grass hopper and just below its middle a wasp or native bee. |
