[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Mamukala is one of the many wet land areas of Kakadu National Park. A good covered observation post has been constructed along one section.
When we arrived huge numbers of birds were noisily feeding amongst reeds, although not many could be seen. From the noise there must have been plenty of some type of whistling duck there.
Shortly after we settled down to watch there was an enormous splash and all the ducks took to the air. I assume that it had been a crocodile striking (result unknown). After a while the ducks returned and started landing again. The egrets (the white birds) had already settled back down. |
