Paper Bark wetland

| We took a morning walk beside one of the wetland areas around Yellow Water near Cooinda in Kakadu national Park. The water levels were high and part of the path disappeared under water. The area features lots of Paper Bark trees (Melaleucas) standing in deep water. In the wet the water could be another metre or 2 deeper. It was actually over caste and it even rained later in the day – a most unusual happening for the dry season. The bark of the trees has lots of uses but a favourite tradition use is for wrapping up barramundi (fish) for cooking. The leaves are every aromatic and are included in the fish parcel for flavour. |

what a magnificent view with equally impressive reflections.The Paperbarks framing the view to the distant centre of the photo. Makes me feel like I am there, well done.
