[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The East Alligator was incorrectly named by a white explorer who thought wrongly identified the local crocodiles. By the time the mistake was discovered the wrong names had made it on to maps.
The river separates Kakadu (on the right) from Arnhem Land on the left. Crocodiles abound. The right hand side of the river is lined with fresh water mangroves. The Arnhem Land escarpment rises on the left.

Hi Ian,
I don't know how you made it "high above" but the resulting shot is stunning. The picture makes you wonder about the origins of this landscape untrammeled by man. Fascinating, the "Freshwater mangroves", the rocky escarpment, the dark water . That is a rare sight, thanks Ian for it.
