NYMPHAEACEAE, Gigantea.
Location: Kakadu, Yellow River.
These plants were an important food for Aborigines, who ate the roots, stems and fruit and seedheads raw, or the roots cooked. The dried seeds were also ground to a flour, made into a damper and baked in the leaves of the plant. |
